Why Ashwagandha Works in the Studies — and So Often Fails in the Bottle
If you tried ashwagandha and felt nothing, you're not broken and it's probably not placebo-resistance. The trials used one specific thing: root extract standardized for withanolide content, at 600mg a day. Most of what's sold is unstandardized powder — legally "ashwagandha," functionally a fraction of the dose.
The difference between "studied" and "sold" is the whole story.
Ashwagandha is one of the most studied adaptogens for exactly this. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in theJournal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research(2021) gave 100 perimenopausal women 600mg a day of standardized ashwagandha root extract — the same daily dose in GloBalance — for eight weeks, and measured significant improvement across the Menopause Rating Scale versus placebo. Separate randomized trials show the same extract meaningfully lowers serum cortisol in stressed adults.*
GloBalance closes that gap: same extract family, same standardization, same daily dose as the trial in women 45–55.
